Portrait Drawing
My inspiration for this piece is I just liked the facial expression. It was kind of different too so it stood out.
The process of making the artwork was drawing the grid first then the outline. Then I started shading the eyebrows and mustache and adding value to the face.
Cross Contour
My inspiration for this piece is some people, for example shy people are like bananas. What I mean by this is they have to peel back their banana to see the insides, which the peel could symbolize the persons comfort zone and once they get out of their comfort zone it can show the main course of the banana or the true person.
The process of making this piece was first I had to outline the banana. Then I went ahead with my contour lines and I started the banana drawing the banana peel then I moved on and scribbled to make the insides of the banana.
Surface Manipulation
My artwork is a dirt bike helmet that's in the center of the paper with dirt bike treads behind it. I drew those things to symbolize that you need to be wearing a helmet when you're riding a dirt bike, street bike, bike etc.
I made my artwork by mapping out the helmet and dirt bike tread outlines first. Then after I did that I colored the inside with colored pencils and drew a design on the helmet.
The thing that inspired me to draw my piece was me getting in a dirt bike crash without a helmet and I got a concussion that affects everything that I do. If I were wearing a helmet it would've protected my head and I wouldn't of had a concussion and have to deal with all the problems of a concussion.
My goals for my piece was to successfully convey the message that I was trying to get through the artwork. I would say I did a good job on it, with help I figured out what I could draw to show my message.
My overall thoughts on my final piece was positive I think I did a good job on it but I feel like I could do more because it's kind of lackluster with content on my paper. I'm happy with how it looks though I think it being kind of lackluster is fine, and it looks fine how it is.
Charcoal
My artwork shows a hawk on a pole, with mountains behind it. Almost all of my piece has charcoal except little pieces at the top where it shows the sky. The mountains are a darker shade than the hawk.
I created my piece by first making four sketches that depicts my piece in different ways. Then I picked one sketch that I liked the most I started mapping the piece out on my paper. After I was done mapping it out I moved on to adding charcoal to the piece.
I was inspired by Robert Longo's artwork. Most of his charcoal pieces are extremely good, realistic, and just pleasing to look at. I really didn't have a purpose for my artwork I just did it.
My goals for my piece were to try to make it as realistic and good as possible, mimicking Robert Longo's artwork. My piece really doesn't show that I tried for those goals but I never used charcoal before so I expected it to come out like this. I'm sure if I had more experience with this type of art it would've came out better.
My final thoughts on my piece is that it doesn't show its full potential. Like I said I'm sure if I had more experience it would look better, but considering it's my first time doing something like this I'm fine with the outcome. My piece doesn't look how I imagined it would, it looks cartoony in my opinion and that wasn't the look I was really going for.
Watercolor
My artwork was a landscape I created with watercolor. My landscape had mountains in the background in the foreground it was just water and a few rocks. You can really tell the perspective in my artwork because the mountains in the back I made smaller then the rocks in the water larger cause it was up close.
My piece is made from water color. The supplies that I use to create my artwork were brushes, water, and paint. First I had a sketch that I drew out on the watercolor paper from it by using the light table. Then I just colored it with paint after I got finished tracing it on my watercolor paper.
The idea behind my artwork was to show how beautiful nature can be. I tried picking the best looking in my opinion which was the piece that I did. The colors were nice to I liked the different shades of blue that I had to do for the sky and the reflection on the water.
My goals for my art piece was to get familiar with watercolor. For example trying to balance the amount of water and paint I should use. I think I did pretty good for my first time working with watercolor. I really enjoyed using watercolor other than the other things we did.
My overall thoughts about my artwork is positive on how it came out. I mean it's nothing special like it's professional or something but it looks decent and I'm happy with it. I also thought I did great working with watercolor, especially since it was my first time working with it.
Art show Piece
My piece was a swamp that I made with watercolor. It shows three large trees with vines in between them. The trees are in mossy water. It has leaves in the back as well but they don't look like leaves.
I created my artwork with watercolor. I used green, yellow, blue, brown, and black in my artwork. I tried blending the green and yellow together in the background. Then I should've blended the green and yellow together on the moss to make it look more like the picture but I didn't.
The person who inspired my artwork was myself because I really liked my last watercolor piece so I decided to do another one. My work does not express a personal issue. It does not express a social issue either. I didn't try to show any emotion in my artwork either.
My goals as an artist were to advance my skills with watercolor. This project didn't help me reach my goal. Because I just kind of gave up on it I really didn't put much effort into it. Once I did my leaves I didn't like them so I thought the whole thing was already messed up so I didn't really put a lot of time into anything else.
This project did help with some stuff though like the water to paint ratio to figure out how to make lighter colors. The final piece isn't how I imagined it looks worse than I imagined. This piece will influence my future artworks because I'll have to do leaves more different than I did in this piece. I feel like I have to not make any mistakes with the paint or anything to continue with what I got.
Clay Piece
My piece is a clay pit and it is made of various different coils. The coils were put on top of one another to make my artwork look like a big tower or pit. My piece was made out of clay so I had to make the forms by my own hands. The piece that I made is really thick and it the thickness throughout my piece.
The media that my artwork is made out of is clay. It has a number of different coils implemented in it. To make the coils first I had to roll it out into a big thin cylinder then either make something out of it like a swirl, or wrap it around my artwork to add more height to it.
My artwork was inspired by Robert Longo which was a famous sculpture that used clay in his work. My work is not expressing a social or personal issue. I tried to show a carefree emotion in my artwork.
My goal for this project was to build something that looked like my sketch which I did partially complete, but I ran out of time and couldn't finish my pit how it looked in the sketch. I was gonna try to make it smooth too. But I started without really thinking about it and used too much slip so it looks kind of rough.
What I learned through the process of this project was that I didn't need to use as much slip as I did use. I also learnt how to roll coils, and how to form them into different designs. My final piece wasn't how I imagined, it looks like half of my sketch because I didn't finish and add rest of the top on it.
